UPVC Patio Doors

Patio doors are now a common feature of many homes as people have come to realise the benefits. These doors can make a small room appear larger as the light is able to flow freely giving an illusion of airiness and space. As patio doors now come in many styles, and a variety of materials, they are suitable to all house types and are a popular choice.

Due to their high durability and minimal maintenance needs uPVC patio doors are popular. These doors are available as sliding doors, French style doors, bi fold doors and folding doors. The most well known styles are the sliding doors and French doors.

Sliding patio doors operate in either a sliding motion or in a tilt and slide motion. The sliding door, used for many years, is simply a double door where one door slides behind the other to allow an opening. The tilt and slide door works in a similar way, but with a tilt required before sliding across to open. The additional benefit of the tilt and slide option is that the door can be left in the tilt only position, to allow a small amount of air to circulate without the need to fully open the door.

Some people prefer the more sophisticated looking French patio doors, which usually swing outward to the garden, patio or decking area. The benefit of these doors is that they allow the full door area to become open and therefore really make the room and outdoors feel as one.

The style of doors within a home is often overlooked but the right choice of door can enhance any room. Patio doors give that extra versatility to a rear room allowing it to open out and bringing the outside in.

Closet Sliding Doors: A Perfect Solution for Small Spaces

If you live in an apartment or house with limited space, then you already understand the importance of clever decorating. Strategic decorating helps to optimize the available living space, while giving that space the illusion of being larger than it actually is. Closet sliding doors are an excellent and easy way of optimizing space and reducing clutter.

Individuals most often use available closet space for clothing, shoes, linens, and other storage items. Regular swinging doors appear to have been designed for people and places with room to spare however; the surface area required to fully open a swinging closet door requires that furniture and other decorations be placed so not to be hit whenever the door is opened or closed. These traditional swinging doors also eliminate the possibility of placing a closet in a narrow hallway, since the opened closet door would inhibit traffic in said hallway.

Closet sliding doors are the perfect solution to these problems. Not only do they fit flush into the wall when opened, they can also provide excellent, yet subtle decorative elements and textures to your home.

Functioning with rollers that are attached to a floor track, sliding closet doors can be installed during construction or home renovation, or can be purchased pre-assembled for do-it-yourself installation. The tracks may be recessed to fit flush with the floor, or, with less expensive do-it-yourself models, will be slightly elevated. Either way, look for a track system that is guaranteed by the manufacturer, to avoid the doors falling off the tracks with excessive use.

Sliding doors are available in numerous sizes and designs. They can be made of wooden or aluminum frames, and may or may not feature clear or opaque glass paneling. For an added decorative element that is also functional, consider mirrored sliding doors. Mirrors will add depth and dimension, as well as light to the room.

If your home or apartment has limited closet space, or its design will not facilitate the installation of sliding closet doors, consider a portable wardrobe closet. Available at a wide variety of price points, and in multiple styles, these are another excellent solution to creative use of space and the elimination of clutter, and have the added benefit of traveling with you when you move. Another option is to build or purchase a corner wardrobe.

Whether you choose to install closet sliding doors, or a portable wardrobe closet, you will be using design techniques that will provide you with a living space that is both tidy and efficient.
