How to Install a Ceiling Curtain Track on Bay Windows

A ceiling curtain track can make a good alternative to a bay window curtain pole.  Like curtain poles, you can install these curtain tracks yourself if you have the proper tools handy (which most people do).  Bay windows typically consist of three windows that form a small cove.  These windows are generally large, let a lot of natural light in, and provide a brilliant view.

How you dress these windows is important since an over-dressed bay window can make the whole room look sloppy just as a bare bay window can make a room look cold and naked.  There are so many ways you can decorate your bay windows.  One of the traditional tried and proven ways is using a bay window pole in conjunction with ceiling curtain tracks.

The secret to successfully treating your bay windows is to treat the set as one huge window.  What you will have to do first is decide whether you want to treat your windows yourself of have an interior designer do the work for you.  If you choose to do it yourself your first stop will be at a hardware store to pick up curtain rods.   After you measure the windows, go to a department store that sells curtain paraphernalia.  You will need curtain rods that specifically made for bay windows.  On these rods you will hang valances.  But that step comes later.  First you will need to install the ceiling curtain track.  Typically people use a double pole for valances and the back curtains.  But a ceiling track is a good alternative that makes it look simpler and more attractive.

These ceiling curtain tracks are great because they can provide a cleaner and neater look than you’d normally get.  After you have bought the curtain rods and hardware, ask your shop assistant for a ceiling track of the same measurements.  These go on the underside the roof of the bay windows.  When installing, be careful to make sure it aligns properly with the curtain rods you installed on the wall directly above the bay windows.  After getting your curtains and valances, insert them onto the rod.  They should hang down low enough to cover the ceiling track but high enough to show the view.
